Dental Plans

Currently, Ameritas administers the LSU System Voluntary Dental Plan on a calendar-year basis (January 1st-December 31st).  Effective July 1, 2010, Dearborn National will be administering the LSU System Voluntary Dental benefit on a policy-year basis (July 1st-June 30th).

This means your benefits will restart this coming July 1st. If you have met your lifetime deductible, you will not have to meet it again.

All unused maximums will be rolled over from Ameritas to Dearborn National up to a $1,000 maximum.  You will not be required to fill out any paperwork to be transferred from Ameritas to Dearborn National unless you want to update your level of coverage or make changes to dependents.

Ameritas will continue to process claims with a date of service through June 30, 2010. Dearborn National will pay for claims with a date of service beginning July 1, 2010.

If you are currently utilizing the orthodontia benefit, you have a lifetime maximum of $1,000. You will be given an additional $500 on July 1, 2010 making your new lifetime maximum $1,500.

If you have questions regarding the transition from Ameritas to Dearborn National, please call the Dearborn National Annual Enrollment phone line designated for LSU System Employees, 888-454-7150.
