The system contains facilities and/or programs in each of Louisiana's 64 parishes. Its campuses stretch the length of the state from New Orleans to Shreveport. The Louisiana State University System will become the cornerstone of an academically effective and cost efficient higher education system dedicated to the development and dissemination of new technology and information for the citizens of the State of Louisiana. Each of the campuses of the LSU System will play a vital role in preparing its students to incorporate new knowledge and new technologies into their daily lives, thereby increasing productivity but also improving their quality of life.
