About the Office
The Office of the Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel (OGC) represents and advises the LSU System.
We work with the System's leadership and institutions, including the Board of Supervisors, President, Chancellors, and Executive Officers and the universities and research enterprises across its campuses, to solve legal issues encountered in pursuit of LSU's educational and research missions.
Attorneys & Staff
Our attorneys and staff provide, manage, and coordinate legal services, including legal counsel and representation, litigation and legal risk management, contract drafting and review, compliance oversight, and other services for LSU institutions to minimize legal risk and costs, reduce litigation exposure, and ensure legal compliance.

OGC is responsible for all legal matters arising from or pertaining to the operations of institutions within the LSU System, including the selection and supervision of any engagements with outside counsel.
All requests to retain outside counsel must be submitted in writing to the OGC. All outside counsel contracts must be prepared by the OGC and submitted to the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General for approval. No outside counsel may be retained without prior written approval of the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General.
Payment for legal services rendered by outside counsel must be in accordance with the approved outside counsel contract; all invoices must be reviewed and approved by OGC prior to payment.
Public Records Request
The LSU System is committed to providing access to public records in accordance with Louisiana Public Records Laws. Requests may be submitted by mail, email, or in person.

- Include the name, mailing address, and telephone number of the requestor
- Identify the record(s) being requested with reasonable particularity, whether inspection is desired, and the preferred method of receipt
